Welcome to WYS's home on the web!

Thanks for selecting Warriors Youth Sports' Football Home Page.  Here, you'll be able to get all the news on our South Denver Colorado based football program as well as information, schedules, rosters, game results, directions and much much more. Check back frequently for the latest information about our club.

Some important changes in uniforms and helmet colors are required for this season.

Warriors and the AYL expect there to be serious shortages of football helmets as most suppliers were shut down for three months and are just now trying to increase production levels.  Look to purchasing your helmets from the Warriors Field House (WFH).  They have stock from last year, at 2019 prices, but the stock is severely limited in size ranges.  Their order for additional helmets most likely will not arrive timely as they are a small retailer compared to the big national brands that get priority from the manufacturers.   As a result the best recommendation Warriors can make is for you to find a helmet that fits properly, regardless of color.

Additionally we expect shortages of football jerseys and pants since all uniforms are manufactured overseas and with tariffs and factory issues, timely supplies are going to be an issue.  Fortunately Warriors owns our jersey design and is the sole provider of our game jerseys.  The WFH has a good stock of jerseys in all sizes with more on the way having been ordered quite a long time ago.

The bottom line is that these issues are well recognized so the AYL Football Board has made some temporary 2020 Rule changes as follows. If necessary you can have your player in any color helmet as long as it properly fits   Further with expected uniform shortages the AYL will allow players to wear practice jerseys of the proper color (Warriors would be Black or White) with numbers added.  The most important goal of the AYL this year to have our children play this Fall rather than strive uniform and helmet consistency.  Warriors also recommend you seriously consider purchasing a used helmet and the WFH is staffed to help you with fitting of said helmets.  Every helmet must carry a date of manufacture as well as an indicator of useful life – no more than 10 years usage maximum.  Stay away from helmets that look well used or show any damage, cracks, and deep gouges in them.  Internal pads can be replaced and helmets can be easily sanitized.  The WFH can help in he evaluating of used helmets.  Also look to our Garage Sale section on the lower right side of the Football Home page.  Here you will find Warriors families offering their used equipment/uniforms for sale at great prices.   Check it out!

Warriors Football, as one of 8 Member Clubs of the Arapahoe Youth League (AYL), is deeply engrossed in the planning for the 2020 season.  The AYL Football Board has been actively working to continue plans for our season as well as continually monitoring all of the organizations involved in developing guidelines for play in the State of Colorado.   Today, there are no indications that a youth football season will not take place this year.  There is nothing in the news from the State, Tri-County Health, nor CHSAA indicating that there will not be any football this fall.  HS have started their workouts across the board.  In fact we are only three weeks before the official start of practices!  There will indeed be some safety rules similar to baseball we will have to follow such as, don't share water bottles, use sanitizers, don't come if ill, etc.  We have not had any further information from either the State or Tri-county Health as to safety precautions to be required.  The AYL Football Board is continuously in discussions with appropriate groups to stay on top of any developments.  We all know this could change so please check back here and/or with your coach for current information.

Finally many of you have questions regarding the potential of refunds should the 2020 season not be allowed to play.  As to Warriors refunding all (100%) registration fees I can guarantee that will not happen.  The reason is we have already expended some of the registration fees on Credit card fees, insurance for players, coach background checks, practice field fees, soon league fees, all of which will not be refunded to us and thus not to the customers.  The best thing Warriors will do if the season does not occur at all is to offer a near 100% credit for future sports or a partial refund.  Obviously the refund will be adjusted based on costs expended up until the time the season is stopped.

For right now let’s plan on a 2020 season – we need this for your kids in this time of uncertainty!

Warriors Youth Sports has been serving the youth of Northern Douglas County since 1967. Warriors is entirely a volunteer organization and is designated a "not for profit" corporation as defined by Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Warriors provide our youth with the opportunity to participate in the following competitive sports: Football, Baseball, Girls Fastpitch Softball, Basketball, Lacrosse and Volleyball.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Warriors have incurred serious financial impact.  Our club depends on all systems to work harmoniously to provide low cost competitive youth sports.  While many know, the greatest asset the club has is the Warriors Field House (it too is our single biggest annual expense). We are doing our best to try to protect the club, its assets and remain viable for the future.  It is our goal to come out on the other side and continue to serve our community as we have since 1967.

If today, you can help the club with a donation please continue to fill out this form.  These donations should be tax deductible (check with your CPA).  We thank you in advance.
